Dear Second Grader,
Welcome to second grade! Welcome back to a new and exciting school year! I hope that you have had a wonderful summer vacation and are ready to begin second grade. This year will be full of new friends, learning experiences and discoveries. Second grade is a very important year. I am very excited to be your teacher and to have an excellent school year with you! I also have a lot of great activities planned for us, and I cannot wait to begin!
This year is my fifth year teaching. My first two years, I taught in the second grade in the Montrose School District. I learned a lot of wonderful things from my students there, and I am eager to bring these great ideas to our classroom! I have been in Bayfield teaching 2nd grade for 3 years now. Second grade is truly special, and I am excited to be working with you here at Bayfield!
I was born and raised right here in our neighboring town of Durango. I grew up on a ranch and raised livestock thru 4-H and competed in rodeo all through high school and college. I went to college and got my degree in Elementary Education from University of Northern Colorado. I got married this past December in Las Vegas to my husband, Eric. We have 5 horses and a yellow lab named Teke.
In order to get to know each other better, I have put in a blank postcard in with this letter. I would love for you to draw a picture of your favorite activity that you did this summer. I would love for you to color it and decorate it any way you would like. Please leave the other side blank. You can bring it with you on the first day of school. I am excited to see your picture and see what fun you had over the summer! I hope to see you at Open House. You can also bring all of your supplies with you and put them into your new desk if you would like. I look forward to having a “Super Second Grade” year with you!
