My Educational Philosophy
I love teaching children! My major goal this year will be to help your child be successful at many different things, to think highly of themselves because they find themselves succeeding. A strong sense of self-esteem is basic to a student's learning. I will expect a lot from your child, and they respond. I try to teach students the value of hard work, best effort, the first time. Developing a sense of responsibility for their own learning, their behavior, and their choices will be a major focus. We will accomplish this goal with many success experiences for your child in a pleasant, comfortable, but organized, safe learning environment where your child will feel comfortable enough to take the risks needed to succeed in learning. You are welcome in our class at any time.
My Educational Experience
I graduated from the University of Northern Colorado with a B.A. in Elementary Education with a minor in Native American Studies. This is my fifth year teaching in Colorado. My first two years, I taught in the second grade in the Montrose School District in Montrose, Colorado. I learned a lot of wonderful things from my students there, and I am eager to bring these great ideas to our classroom! I am begining my third year here in Bayfield.
About Me
I recently got married (December) to Eric, a Conservation Officer with the Game and Fish. We do not have any children, except for a yellow lab named Teke who would beg to differ. In our spare time Eric and I love to spend a lot of time in the great outdoors. We enjoy horseback riding, camping, Avalanche hockey, working outside, and traveling. We live in the country and have room for our 5 Quarter horses to roam.
